Wholesomm was created by Sydney Isaacs, 26-year-old oenophile based in Charlotte, NC, to shed light on the wine pairing possibilities for vegetarians. Frustrated with wine labels exclusively recommending “beef, lamb, pork, veal…” as pairings, she wanted to show that all wines – even full-bodied reds – have their perfect meatless pairings too. As more people shift to an environmentally-friendly diet (i.e. more plants and less meat), Sydney passionately believes that those same wine traditions from our meat-centric past can carry over to our plant-forward future.
Launched in August 2017 as a community for vegetarians, vegans, or otherwise primarily plant-based foodies who enjoy real food and drink good wine, Wholesomm strives to inspire those who want to eat well and eat decadently – without the fear of gluten, sugar, oil, carbs, or any other of those fabulous and delicious things that “health gurus” love to demonize.
